KMUZ Updates Art Smart

Art Smart of SalemRecently KMUZ was invited to give a brief presentation to members of Salem's Art Smart to update them on the status of the station. Volunteer Tim Patterson was drafted for this duty, and spent about 30 minutes describing his role at the station, how KMUZ sees themselves fitting into the Salem Arts Community, and answering questions about the station.

Barbara Curtin, the Statesman-Journal's Arts Reporter, spent a few moments with Tim after the presentation to clarify some of her questions. She stated that she thought it was about time for a 'KMUZ update' story to appear in the SJ...so watch for that soon!

Support KMUZ with your purchase! Now there's another cool way you can support KMUZ, Salem's new Community Radio Station: grab a t-shirt, coffee cup, hoodie, mug, shopping bag or something else with a KMUZ logo. All profits go to the KMUZ radio project.

We've marked up prices enough so that KMUZ can pocket some needed funds with your purchase - but hopefully not TOO high so that you can't afford to support the station. So check it out - lots of great stuff - and more to come!

Roger Steffens to Bring 'The Life of Bob Marley" to Oregon - Help Us Raise The Money!

Roger SteffensKMUZ is kicking off a small fund-raising drive for a specific event this fall. We're planning to bring Roger Steffens and his "The Life of Bob Marley" multi-media presentation to Oregon in September or October. To do that, we need to raise about $2500 to pay for related expenses. When we do that, we calculate that the fund-raiser can raise 3-4 times that amount.

We're just at the beginning of this process and we're trying to coordinate schedules with a likely venue and with Roger.

In the meantime we're putting out a call for local individuals and businesses who would like to support KMUZ and who would like to see Roger's terrific program come to Oregon.

As Wikipedia puts it: "Roger is perhaps best known for his reggae archives, in particular his archives of Bob Marley. Six rooms of his home in Los Angeles house his archives, which include the world's largest collection of Bob Marley material."

Steffens is well-known in the music world, having hosted several reggae-related radio shows in the Los Angeles area over the past four decades. He's a frequent speaker at Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (the most frequent, in fact), and has toured the world with his Marley show.

Roger Steffens FlyerWe urge you to take a look at the flyer and consider helping bring Roger Steffens to Oregon to help keep KMUZ on track. And...by all means...pass it on to people you think might be interested in helping to underwrite the event!
