This week Virginia and Jim explore Salem in 1948. A milestone was reached that year when the first Jewish synagogue is build in Salem. The first service in Temple Beth Shalom was held on January 20, 1948. The congregation would outgrow the synagogue and eventually move to South Salem, but the original temple still graces Broadway Street.
